Local Events and Market Update - April 2021

I am sitting here writing this as a storm line quickly approaches and all I can think of is the old saying, "April Showers bring May Flowers." What better way to start off of an April events blog than to talk about what is happening in Summerville, the Flower Town in the Pines and one place I think you should explore is free to the public. It is the Azalea Park in Summerville. It is absolutely gorgeous with the beautiful trees, flowers, and of course all the turtles in the water.

April is here and it brings much warmer temperatures and much more pollen! Farmers markets are starting to open again. Sea Island Market at Charleston Collegiate on Johns Island and the Goose Creek Market at 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd. are open every Saturday. Also, every Saturday there will be an Acting Workshop at the Cultural Arts Center in West Ashley, and Yoga at the Firefly Distillery in Park Circle at 11 a.m. with food food trucks and live entertainment after the yoga. Activities are starting to pick up again! Here is your April schedule of events:

Market Update

The Charleston Real Estate Market has taken a turn for the insane! We went from a steep sellers market to the craziest market we have ever seen. This is true of most places in the United States right now. Inventory dropped to levels no one could ever had imagined, but the demand is extremely high due to the very low mortgage interest rates. A large portion of sellers are getting multiple offers within the first week of listing and many homes are selling for more than the list price. They're also selling for more than they can appraise for; however, buyers are often making up the difference. However, the drawback to this is that many sellers don't feel confident that they can find a replacement home and this is so widespread around the USA, they don't feel they can relocate, so they are not selling. They'd love to list at these prices, but they don't want to face the other side of the equation and become a buyer. One possible option is to rent after selling and hope for a downturn. Some are trying to buy new construction or buy an RV and travel around the country! If you're a buyer, it's likely that your Realtor is having a lot of trouble finding something for you.

As always, if you or anyone you know is looking to buy or sell in the Charleston Trident Area. Call me! I am here to help.
